Business Director
Role
Our Business Director is a senior leader running some of the agency’s biggest client relationships. You’ll be the trusted partner for senior marketers, the coach your team looks to for clarity, and the person who knows how to turn big ambition into results.
This role blends commercial sharpness with creative ambition. You’ll be accountable for revenue growth, profitability, client satisfaction and team leadership - making sure we deliver work that’s not just efficient, but brave, social-first, and culturally relevant. It’s a truly entrepreneurial role within a small business that still has real start-up energy.
Core Responsibilities
Client Leadership
Build long-term, trusted relationships with CMOs, Marketing Directors and senior stakeholders.
Lead the room with confidence, offering counsel, clarity and proactive solutions.
Spot opportunities to grow accounts and secure retention through partnership.
Commercial Growth
Own and deliver the P&L for your portfolio, with clear accountability for revenue and margin.
Negotiate scopes, retainers and contracts with confidence.
Forecast accurately and ensure commercial decisions are growth-minded.
Drive organic growth and support on new business pitches.
Strategic & Creative Contribution
Turn client challenges into coherent strategies and compelling narratives.
Partner with strategy and creative leads to produce bold, social-first ideas.
Champion brave, distinctive work - knowing when to back it and when to push it further.
Stay fluent in social platforms, creators, communities and cultural trends, translating this into opportunities for clients.
Team Leadership
Provide clear vision and structure for the Irish CS team, with succession plans in place.
Line-manage and mentor direct reports, setting goals and giving feedback that drives growth.
Build a resilient, confident team culture.
Role-model the values and behaviours we want to see across the agency.
Agency Contribution
Be a visible face of the agency in Ireland - networking, representing us at events, raising our profile.
Contribute to shaping ways of working, growth plans and culture.
Work collaboratively with peers across creative, strategy and production to drive integration and standards.
Objectives & Success Measures
Within 3 months
Establish a strong, transparent working rhythm with CEO & UK leadership.
Provide monthly financial reporting of Irish portfolio performance, including accurate forecasting, P&L and clear insights.
Maintain smooth operational processes (finance, billing, resourcing) as part of business accountability.
Lead at least two client strategy presentations or pitches with clear, compelling narratives.
Build an organisational structure and progression plans for direct reports.
Increase visibility by looping CEO into senior client conversations, sharing draft proposals in advance, and giving regular written updates on progress/issues.
Within 6 months
Deliver measurable growth across the Irish portfolio (revenue and margin uplift).
Demonstrate stronger commercial acumen: lead scope negotiations, present regular updates on client health and profitability.
Evidence proactive revenue growth through upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
Demonstrate deeper social expertise: share regular updates with the team and clients, and lead at least one internal knowledge-share session.
Co-lead a pitch or major campaign with strong strategic and creative input.
Be recognised for stronger creative judgement and input into award-worthy work.
Represent Fabric externally at least twice (event, panel, PR) and contribute to thought leadership.
Be recognised internally as a credible peer to UK leadership and a driver of Irish growth.
Within 12 months
Deliver sustained portfolio growth and improved profitability.
Build senior client relationships at CMO/board level, with briefs flowing proactively.
Lead client-facing workshops on social/cultural opportunities.
Demonstrate impact on team progression and retention through coaching and development.
Be recognised externally as one of the senior faces of Fabric Ireland.
